Take Off is an interesting blend of comedy and drama that dives deep into identity and belonging. The story follows Cha Heon-tae, a Korean-American who, after being adopted, seeks out his mother through a TV show. It’s quite a unique setup as he’s also a trained alpine skier, which brings in this unexpected twist with Coach Bang wanting to form a new ski jumping team. The film manages to juggle heartfelt moments with more comedic beats, creating an engaging atmosphere. The pacing feels right, with enough time spent on character development while keeping the plot moving. The performances, especially around family dynamics, really add depth. It’s a distinctive take on the search for one’s roots, wrapped in sports and personal growth.
