Tandem is an interesting slice of late '80s French comedy that captures a certain whimsical charm. You’ve got Michel Mortez, this radio game show host, who’s been on the air for ages, traveling through France with his assistant Rivetot. The dynamic between them is quite fascinating; Rivetot knows the real Mortez behind the showman facade. The film does a decent job of exploring themes of celebrity and the hidden struggles that often accompany it. The pacing feels leisurely at times, allowing for character moments to breathe. It’s quirky and has that distinctive '80s vibe, both in its humor and in practical effects that reflect the era. One can’t help but appreciate the nostalgic feel it gives off.
