Tanzania Transit is a fascinating slice of life captured on a train journey through Tanzania. The film moves at a steady pace, allowing you to soak in the atmosphere of the train – it's a little crowded, a bit chaotic, and incredibly alive. The three central characters each bring their own unique stories, showcasing the resilience and strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity. Jeroen van Velzen's direction feels intimate, almost like you're eavesdropping on their conversations. You really get a sense of East African culture in this microcosm. The natural performances of the cast add a layer of authenticity that’s hard to ignore. It’s more about the journey and the people than any grand narrative arc. Quite distinct in its approach, that's for sure.
