Taxi for Two is an interesting blend of slapstick and situational comedy. Dan Doolittle, played with a certain hapless charm, winds up in one misadventure after another, often thanks to his own bluster. The pacing has a nice rhythm, typical of silent comedies, where the exaggerated physicality shines. Del Lord’s direction is tight, and the way the characters engage feels very much of its time, capturing that essence of 1920s humor. Practical effects, though simple, add a layer of charm that modern films often overlook. The dynamic between Dan and Dolly is delightful, their chemistry grounding the more ridiculous moments in a semblance of reality.
Del Lord's unique comedic style evident throughout.Interesting portrayal of 1920s working class.Great example of early silent film techniques.
