Tension and Desire (1983) is this gritty crime film that really drags you into its murky world. The pacing is uneven, but it sort of adds to that underlying sense of dread. It doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of human nature, which is refreshing. The performances have this rawness that feels authentic, even if the direction is a bit shaky. You can tell they were working with practical effects on a budget, and some scenes come off as really visceral because of that. It's got a distinct atmosphere that's hard to ignore, with moments that linger in the mind long after. Not a polished gem, but certainly leaves an impression.
