The Able-Minded Lady is one of those quirky Westerns from the early '20s that captures the charm of its time. Directed by Ollie Sellers, it pairs a laid-back cowboy with a fiercely independent widow who's been through three husbands. Her bossy demeanor and his easy-going nature create a delightful push-and-pull throughout the film. You can feel the playful tension in the air, and there's a certain lightness to the pacing that allows the audience to soak in the atmosphere. The performances are earnest, even if some elements feel a bit dated. It's not your classic Western shoot-'em-up, but it has an endearing quality that draws you into its unique little world. A solid piece of Americana, if you ask me.
