The Accursed is a pretty solid indie horror flick that dives into familial curses and the weight they carry. Kathryn Michelle’s direction has a gritty, almost claustrophobic feel that really works for the story. The pacing does drag a bit in places but the atmosphere is thick with dread, and you can feel Hana's struggle throughout. Some practical effects are used effectively, giving it a raw, unsettling vibe. Performances are a mixed bag; Hana's character comes across as deeply tortured, and you can’t help but feel the weight of her dilemma. There’s something distinct about its handling of family trauma intertwined with horror, which is refreshing. Not a perfect film, but it has its moments.
