The Admiral: Roaring Currents is a pretty intense look at one of Korea's most celebrated naval battles. Kim Han-min really captures the chaos and desperation of the moment, especially with just 13 ships battling against an overwhelming Japanese fleet. The pacing can feel relentless—you're right there with the characters, experiencing the tension as they prepare for what's almost a suicide mission. The practical effects are solid, too; the ship battles feel gritty and raw, not overly polished. Lee Byung-hun's performance as Admiral Yi is compelling, embodying both the pressure of leadership and the weight of his nation's expectations. It’s got a grim, yet patriotic vibe that really sets it apart from typical war epics.
