The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle (2000) is a curious mix of live-action and animation that feels very much like a throwback to the original series. Des McAnuff directs, and there's a quirky charm to the whole thing, even if it doesn’t quite recapture the magic. The blend of slapstick humor and satirical commentary on media is interesting, especially with the characters Boris and Natasha crossing over into reality. You can see the effort in the practical effects and the way they interact with the animated world. The pacing meanders a bit in the middle, but it’s peppered with that classic humor. If you're into adaptations that don't take themselves too seriously, this one’s worth a look.
Released by Universal Pictures in 2000.Runtime: 92 minutes, with a mix of CGI and practical effects.Features voice performances by June Foray and Keith Ferguson.Nominated for a few awards, though not a huge box office success.
