The Baker unfolds in this quirky mix of comedy and crime with a strange sort of charm. Milo, played fairly well, is a hitman who, for the first time, really drops the ball on a job. The way he ends up in this sleepy village, mistaken for a baker, is just classic situational irony. The atmosphere is laid-back, almost whimsical, which contrasts sharply with his violent profession. Gareth Lewis plays with pacing here; it’s slow to build, but it works as you get to know the oddball locals. It’s like a darkly comedic take on mistaken identity, with some decent practical effects during the few action scenes. The small-town vibe really softens Milo’s hard edge, making for a unique blend of tension and humor.
Interesting take on the hitman trope. The small-town setting adds a unique dynamic.Blend of humor and tension is well executed.
