So, 'The Bodyguard' from 2018 is an interesting watch. The premise starts off with this guy who's suddenly come into a lot of cash and decides he needs protection. But instead of getting a seasoned pro, he ends up with this young woman who's more about charm than combat. It walks a pretty unpredictable line between drama and tension. The pacing feels a bit off at times, with moments that drag, but it does create a certain atmosphere of unease. What’s distinctive here is the character dynamics – you don’t typically see this kind of gender reversal in protection roles. The performances are decent enough, especially as they navigate through the inadequacies and growth. There’s something refreshing, albeit flawed, about the whole setup.
