The Box (2022) is a gripping little horror piece that explores the claustrophobia of both space and relationships. Annie and Harry, trapped in an elevator, start off with playful banter that soon twists into a tension-filled standoff. The pacing is quite deliberate, letting the atmosphere thicken with each passing hour. You can almost feel the air getting heavier, and the practical effects are used sparingly but effectively, enhancing the mounting dread. The performances give off a real sense of paranoia, making you question their intentions. It's interesting how the film digs into themes of trust and suspicion, all while keeping the setting confined—just a couple of characters, yet so much going on beneath the surface. Definitely a unique take on the horror genre.
