The Castle is a unique blend of comedy and drama that captures the essence of Aussie working-class life. It revolves around the endearingly eccentric Kerrigan family, who take immense pride in their home, even if it's just a few meters from the Tullamarine Airport runway. The film’s humor is deeply rooted in its characters’ resilience and their oddball take on life – you really feel their love for their home and each other. Rob Sitch's direction brings a great pacing, ensuring the absurdities don't overshadow the genuine warmth of the story. Performances are notably authentic, especially from Michael Caton as Darryl Kerrigan, really grounding the film in its themes of family and belonging. It's got that low-key charm that makes it stand out.
