THE CITY OF DUNWICH is a neat little homage to the gritty horror vibe of the 70s and 80s, channeling the likes of Fulci and D’Amato. The pacing feels deliberate, almost crawling at times, which really accentuates the creeping dread. Ryan Capizzi delivers a solid performance that captures that certain kind of paranoia you get in these old-school flicks. But what really stands out is Carlo Maria Cordio's score, a lush soundscape that feels both eerie and nostalgic, weaving in and out of the narrative seamlessly. The practical effects, too, harken back to a time when filmmakers relied on tangible visuals rather than CGI—there's a rawness that permeates the film, giving it a unique charm.
