So, The Cocaine Highway, released in 2021, dives into the gritty underbelly of drug trafficking. It’s a documentary, which I generally find hit or miss, but this one pulls you in with its raw authenticity. The pacing is deliberate, almost meditative at times, making you sit with the weight of the stories being told. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the film doesn't shy away from the harsh realities faced by those living along these routes. You get a sense of the human cost behind the trade, and it’s presented without flashy effects. It’s really about the lives, the journeys, and the haunting choices people make. Definitely not your standard doc, more introspective and reflective than most.
