THE CONFABULATORS is this quirky blend of comedy, romance, and thriller that really keeps you on your toes. Walter, played by an unknown actor, juggles his mundane corporate life at Cobb Inc. and his long-term girlfriend Marny, which is relatable in its own messy way. The arrival of his second cousin Ted adds this layer of chaos that transforms the apartment into a pressure cooker of awkward family dynamics and romantic misadventures. The pacing's a bit erratic, but it kind of works with the tone - one minute you’re chuckling, the next you’re at the edge of your seat. There’s a certain charm in its practical effects too, which are surprisingly well done for a low-budget film. Not what you'd expect from the typical rom-com, that's for sure.
