The Cottage (2022) dives into a familiar yet chilling premise. Five friends take a trip to a secluded spot, hoping for relaxation, but they stumble into something much darker. The atmosphere is thick with dread, and you can feel the tension building as their playful banter gives way to paranoia. I appreciated the practical effects; the film doesn't rely heavily on CGI, which adds an authenticity that heightens the horror. The pacing is interesting—slow in parts, allowing the dread to sink in before the chaos erupts. The performances are solid and add a layer of realism to their growing fear. Overall, it’s a decent entry in the genre, but it does have its clichés.
