So, 'The Damned' from 2018 is quite an interesting piece. The atmosphere is really claustrophobic, even though it’s set in the vast desert. You’ve got these three soldiers, and as they grapple with the effects of this curse from a Bedouin woman, the tension builds in a way that feels organic. The pacing is a bit slow at first, but it ramps up nicely as paranoia sets in. The practical effects are decent, and they really add to the gritty feel of the film. The performances are raw, making their descent into madness unsettlingly believable. It’s distinctive in how it integrates psychological horror with the unforgiving environment – not just a typical soldier vs. supernatural story.
