The Demolitionist is a peculiar blend of action, horror, and sci-fi that really stands out in the mid-'90s landscape. It follows a murdered cop resurrected by a scientist to become a relentless crime-fighting machine. The film carries a gritty, almost nihilistic tone, embodying the urban decay of its setting. The pacing is uneven, oscillating between tense action sequences and more contemplative moments that sometimes feel out of sync. Practical effects are used effectively; they have that hands-on feel which can be refreshing compared to today's CGI-heavy productions. Performances are a mixed bag, but the lead embodies the tortured spirit well. There's this underlying theme of morality in a corrupt society that gives it a bit more heft than your average B-movie.
