The Dig is a tense, slow-burn thriller that really plays with the idea of memory and guilt. You've got Callahan, who comes back from prison with no clear recollection of his past crime, and that adds this murky layer to the whole narrative. The atmosphere is thick, almost suffocating at times, with a creeping sense of dread as Sean, the father of the victim, pulls him into this grim search for closure. The pacing is deliberate, letting the tension build between the two men. Performances are solid, especially the dynamic between Callahan and Sean, which is just loaded with subtext. The practical effects, though not overdone, work well to enhance the grim reality of their situation. It’s all very haunting, in a way that sticks with you.
