The Enigma of the Croquette Boy is a rather quirky gem from 2004 that blends adventure with a unique animation style. The premise revolves around Alex García, a washed-up TV star who gets embroiled with a secret organization. It's somewhat surreal, with a pacing that feels a bit offbeat, very much in line with the peculiar themes of failure and redemption. The animation has this charmingly odd quality, and while it leans heavily into satire, it also manages to explore darker undertones with those martian invaders tailing Alex. The performances are surprisingly layered given the absurd setup, making it a distinctive piece in the mix of early 2000s animated films. Not what you'd expect, really.
