The First Film is quite an interesting piece, really. Set in a small Indian town during the 1960s, it dives into the societal constraints placed on women, especially regarding cinema. The pacing is deliberate, allowing us to really soak in the atmosphere of the era. The young protagonist's journey is both touching and relatable, capturing that innocent yearning for something beyond the confines of her world. Piyush Thakur’s direction gives a raw, authentic feel to the setting—most of the practical effects and set designs reflect the time beautifully. The performances, especially from the lead, are heartfelt and add a nuanced layer to the narrative. It's a mix of history and personal struggle, making it a distinctive watch.
