Rupert Wainwright's 2005 remake of 'The Fog' takes a different approach than the original Carpenter classic. It's atmospheric, but the pacing feels uneven at times, leading to a sense of disorientation that somewhat mirrors the story's foggy setting. The themes of revenge and the consequences of past sins resonate throughout the film. You can sense the filmmakers' attempts to create tension, especially with the practical effects used for the ghostly mariners. The performances, while not always standout, contribute to the eerie tone, and there's an undeniable charm in how it pays homage to its predecessor while carving out its own identity. Not quite as sharp as the original, but it has its moments.
Interesting take on a classic horror tale. Not as tight as Carpenter's version, but has its own charm.Practical effects add a unique feel to the ghostly elements.
