So, 'The Godfather Part III'... it's a bit of a mixed bag for a lot of fans. Coppola really dives into themes of redemption and legacy, which feels heavy on Michael Corleone. The pacing is slower than the first two, definitely more reflective. You get a sense of age and weariness in Pacino’s performance; he’s not the young hothead anymore. There’s some solid cinematography, especially in the Vatican scenes, which adds a unique atmosphere. The practical effects and set design are still top-notch, though. If you appreciate how sequels can expand on themes rather than just retread old ground, this one might resonate more than you'd think.
Released December 25, 1990, in the US.Cinematography by Edward Lachman.Notable for its Vatican City setting.Nominated for 7 Academy Awards.
