The Gravedancers is one of those quirky horror flicks that plays with the whole ghost revenge trope in a fun way. Mendez has a knack for keeping the tension simmering without overdoing the jump scares, which is refreshing. The practical effects are decent for the budget, and the spirits themselves have a certain grotesque charm, especially the ax murderer. Performances from the leads are solid; they play off each other well amidst the chaos. The film’s pacing feels just right, balancing the backstory and present horror without dragging too much. It has a certain late-2000s vibe, which gives it a unique atmosphere you don't see in modern horror.
