The Green Inferno (1988) is quite the oddity in the realm of adventure comedies. Youâve got these four friends wandering into the jungle, ostensibly to find a missing professor, but itâs not long before they stumble into a brutal clash with treasure hunters. The atmosphere is thick with tension and the pacing bounces from the absurd to the horrifying. Itâs a wild mix of laughs and horror, although the humor can feel a bit jarring against the darker themes of colonialism and exploitation. Practical effects are raw, adding to the unsettling vibe. Performances range from charming to downright outrageous â thatâs part of its appeal, really. Itâs a film that doesnât shy away from awkwardness, making for an interesting watch, to say the least.
Not your typical jungle adventure.Has a blend of humor that might not land for everyone.Interesting commentary on exploitation and violence.
