So, 'The Haunting at Saint Joseph's' is an interesting mix of horror and thriller, set against this eerie backdrop of a guesthouse with a pretty dark past. You have this engaged Muslim doctor and her fiancé, who bring their friends along, not really knowing the place is steeped in history – and not the good kind. The atmosphere is thick, almost suffocating at times, as things start escalating and their emotional states unravel. I'll say the pacing is deliberate; it builds up tension really well, drawing you into their spiraling madness. The practical effects work is commendable, enhancing that unsettling vibe as they grapple with the hauntings. It does a nice job exploring themes of faith and fear, which adds another layer to the experience.
