The House on the Witchpit is this fascinating little horror gem that flew under the radar until its premiere at Horror-on-Sea in 2016. Directed by Pat Higgins, it has this eerie atmosphere and a slow-burn tension that really draws you in. The film plays with themes of isolation and the occult, and while we don’t have much in terms of cast details, the performances seem genuine, adding a layer of authenticity. There’s a clever use of practical effects that heightens the unsettling visuals without relying too heavily on CGI. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the dread to seep in gradually, which I think works nicely for those who appreciate a more atmospheric approach to horror.
