About This Movie

The Hunter's Prayer is a bit of a mixed bag, but it's got this gritty, intense vibe that I appreciate. The performances are decent, especially from the leads, who really sell their uneasy alliance. The pacing is somewhat uneven, but it adds to that tension, I guess. You’ve got some solid practical effects during the action sequences; they don’t rely too heavily on CGI, which is always a plus. The themes of vengeance and morality are explored without getting too heavy-handed. Jonathan Mostow clearly aimed for something atmospheric, and even if it stumbles a bit, it has its moments that stick with you.
