The Meek, while not helmed by a well-known director, has a gritty vibe that pulls you in right from the start. The film does a decent job navigating the heaviness of Josh's journey, freshly released from prison and dealing with the loss of his daughter. It’s all about that tension between his spiritual awakening and the shadows of his violent past. The pacing feels uneven at times, but it manages to build a palpable atmosphere of desperation and conflict. There are some raw performances, especially from the lead, really adding to the film's emotional weight. The action scenes, although not overly flashy, have this grounded, practical feel that makes the violence hit harder. It’s a blend of redemption and struggle that’s pretty distinctive in its execution.
