The Meg is a wild ride that plays with our primal fears of the ocean. Jon Turteltaub directs a blend of action and horror that's got a certain campy charm. The pacing is pretty brisk, which keeps you engaged, even if some plot points feel a bit thin. The practical effects are decent enough—those jaw-dropping underwater scenes really draw you in, and the creature design of the Megalodon is a standout. Jason Statham gives it his all, adding a bit of grit amidst the chaos. The film toys with themes of humanity versus nature, and it’s interesting how it contrasts deep-sea exploration with the terror of what lurks below. All in all, it’s a fun watch if you’re into creature features with a splash of action.
Great for creature feature enthusiastsGood blend of action and horrorInteresting practical effects
