So, 'The Ninth Passenger' takes this group of college kids who think a yacht party is all fun and games, but then it spirals into this dark, claustrophobic nightmare. It plays with the whole theme of trust and betrayal, and what happens when the party turns deadly. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but it builds a nice tension. I found the practical effects to be decent, especially for an indie flick, and while the performances range from solid to a bit wooden, there’s something raw about them that adds to the overall atmosphere. It’s got that grimy, isolated feeling which really works in its favor, making the student dynamic feel all the more precarious.
