The Planters is a quirky comedy that mixes awkwardness with a touch of absurdity. Martha Plant, an underachieving telemarketer, is definitely not your typical lead. The tone is sort of offbeat, balancing dark humor with a kind of lightheartedness, thanks to her relationship with Sadie Mayflower, played with a wild, unrestrained energy. Sadie’s multiple personalities add layers to their friendship, creating some genuinely funny and touching moments. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it kind of works with the characters' bizarre situations. It’s got a unique atmosphere that's both sad and whimsical, and the performances really carry it. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it has a distinct charm that stands out amidst more mainstream fare.
