The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is quite the peculiar documentary. It weaves together a mix of archival footage and tapes from Gavriil Pavlidis' private studio, creating a disquieting atmosphere. The pacing feels deliberate, almost methodical, as it unfolds the narrative surrounding the Hyperborean race and early Zionist migration. The juxtaposition of historical zeal and chilling undertones makes it distinctive. There’s an unsettling quality to the way the visuals are presented, almost like a collage of forgotten narratives. Although the director remains unknown, the material and its treatment invite a deeper reflection on identity and historical revisionism. Not for the faint of heart, this film definitely sits in a gray area of documentary filmmaking.
