The themes revolve around the preciousness of oil, compared to the old notion of gold, which feels very relevant today. The music, of course, is Wagnerian – powerful and haunting – and it’s matched by the performers who dive deep into their roles, bringing a raw intensity. The pacing can be a bit uneven, but it adds to that wild, chaotic atmosphere. It’s not your traditional interpretation, but that’s what makes it distinctive, really.
