The Second Arrival, a lesser-known sequel to The First Arrival, dives into the murky waters of alien invasion with a decidedly different tone. Directed by Kevin Tenney, the film does a decent job at creating an atmosphere of mounting dread as a small group of characters confronts the reality of extraterrestrial threats. The pacing can feel a bit uneven, oscillating between frenzied action and moments of introspection. The performances, particularly from the leads, breathe some life into a rather formulaic plot. What stands out, though, are the practical effects; they have a certain charm that digital can’t replicate. There’s a blend of sci-fi and horror elements that keeps you engaged, even if it strays into familiar territory. It’s got that late '90s vibe that makes it unique in its own right.
