The Serpent's Way is a gritty drama that dives into the dark underbelly of family and exploitation. It's uncomfortable, to say the least, and the pacing really lingers on the tension, almost suffocating at times. You’ve got this salesman, who, alongside his son, wreaks havoc on a poor family's legacy - generations of women subjected to abuse as a twisted kind of payment. What stands out is the rawness of the performances; they feel incredibly real, capturing the desperation and anger that permeates every scene. The atmosphere is thick with dread, and the practical effects are minimal but serve to heighten the unsettling nature of the story. It’s definitely a film that leaves you with a lot to unpack, both thematically and emotionally.
