The Shadow (2020) is quite an interesting take on that Peter Pan story we all know, and it dives deep into some unsettling theories. The animation is deliberately eerie, enhancing the horror elements while keeping that whimsical vibe from Barrie's original. The pacing is somewhat slow, allowing the tension to build, and the atmosphere is thick with a sense of dread. What I found distinctive is how the film plays with the idea of innocence lost, particularly with the Lost Boys and their inevitable fate. The practical effects, while not extensive, add a certain rawness that works well with the overall tone. Definitely not your typical animated fare, it leaves you with a lot to ponder about childhood and mortality.
