The Shadowman (2022) is this intriguing indie horror that plays with tension in interesting ways. You get this creeping atmosphere right from the start. The shadowed figure is unsettling, but it’s the minimalistic use of light and sound that really amps up the dread. Pacing feels deliberate, giving you time to stew in the characters’ fear and confusion, which can be a bit of a slow burn—but in a good way. There’s something raw about the performances, they feel genuine, like you’re really peering into their psyche. The practical effects are pretty effective too; they don't go overboard, just enough to keep you on edge. It’s not your run-of-the-mill slasher, more of a psychological exploration wrapped in darkness.
