The Skeptic is an interesting piece from 2009 that really dives into the psychological aspects of fear and belief. Bryan Becket, played by a somewhat intense actor, is this lawyer who thinks he’s got it all figured out, but the house he moves into after his Aunt's death throws him for a loop. The atmosphere is thick, almost suffocating at times, with a slow burn that builds tension effectively. You get these unsettling occurrences – shadows, sounds – that make you question what’s real. Practical effects are decent, and the pacing balances well between eerie moments and Bryan's internal struggle. It’s not groundbreaking, but it does have a vibe that sticks with you, especially if you appreciate psychological horror.
