The Speed of Thought is one of those films that really plays with the mind—literally. This 2011 flick centers around Joshua Lazarus, played by Nick Stahl, a telepath caught in the web of government intrigue. The atmosphere is dark and brooding, which really adds to the tension. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but it works in building that suspense. The themes of isolation and the fear of losing one’s sanity run deep, especially with the backdrop of Widmann's Disease looming over Lazarus. Practical effects are used sparingly, adding a layer of realism to the telepathic moments without diving into flashy CGI. Stahl’s performance carries the movie, making you really feel the weight of his gift and curse. It’s definitely a unique entry in the sci-fi thriller niche.
