The Sting II, directed by Jeremy Kagan, carries on the mischief of the original with a lighter touch. It's interesting how they introduce us to a new con artist, Veronica, while still referencing characters from the first film. The dynamic between Hooker and Gondorf feels familiar yet fresh, and the pacing has that classic con movie rhythm—build-up, tension, reveal. The performances are solid, with enough charm to keep you engaged, but it doesn’t quite have the same magic as its predecessor. The atmosphere is a playful nod to the 1930s, complete with some clever practical effects. It feels like a bit of a caper, but you can sense it’s not trying too hard to replicate the same vibe, which is sometimes a relief in sequels.
