The Tenant is a fascinating psychological descent, crafted by Polanski with a slow, creeping dread that envelops the viewer. The way the camera lingers on the narrow hallways of the apartment building adds to this sense of entrapment. You really feel the main character's paranoia seep in as he becomes increasingly isolated, which I think is quite masterful. The performances, especially by Polanski himself, are raw and unsettling, capturing that gradual unraveling of sanity. The practical effects are understated but effective, enhancing the film's eerie atmosphere. It's a deeply unsettling look at identity and alienation, and the pacing keeps you on edge without rushing through those critical moments of tension.
