The Tower of Silence is a curious blend of drama and science fiction, directed by Johannes Guter. It's set against a backdrop of tension and isolation, with Eva caught in her father's twisted inventions and her family's eerie tower. The atmosphere is thick with unease, punctuated by the arrival of aviator Wilfred Durian and his wife, who bring their own secrets. The pacing can be a bit languid at times, allowing the haunting mood to settle in. The practical effects, especially around the inventions, give it a unique tactile quality that you don't see in modern films. Performances feel sincere, bringing a depth to the characters that is often overlooked in silent cinema. There's a compelling exploration of madness and redemption woven throughout.
