So, 'The Vacancy' is an interesting little slice of 80s horror that really plays with the dread of the unknown. It starts off almost innocently enough with Amy and Audrey looking for work, but then you realize it’s way more than just an interview gone wrong. The pacing has this creeping tension that builds up, and the atmosphere is thick with a sense of impending doom. The practical effects, while not over the top, do pack a punch when they’re needed. The performances are solid; the cast really captures that desperation. It has a distinctive low-budget charm that gives it an edge. There’s something eerie about the whole supermarket setting, too, which is quite unique in the genre. Definitely one of those hidden gems you might not hear much about.
