The Vessel (2016) takes a rather somber look at grief and memory. Ten years post-tsunami, the atmosphere is heavy, almost suffocating, as it grapples with the remnants of tragedy. The young manâs mysterious structure, built from the schoolâs ruins, stirs old emotions in the townsfolk. You really feel the tension simmering beneath the surfaceâlike the ghost of the past is never quite gone. The pacing is deliberate, almost meditative at times, which might not appeal to everyone, but it gives the film a haunting quality. Performances are solid, especially how they convey a community both trying to heal and relive its pain. It's distinct from typical dramas, making it a unique experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
