So, 'The Villain' is pretty much a quirky mash-up of comedy and Western tropes. Hal Needham directs this slapstick take on the classic outlaw story, with Kirk Douglas as the hilariously inept Cactus Jack. It’s got that goofy charm that you either love or find a bit too much. The pacing is brisk, keeping things light and fun, and the performances are what really sell the absurdity here. You get a good mix of practical effects—especially in the action sequences that feel more playful than serious. It’s not your typical Western, and that’s what makes it stand out. Plus, the chemistry between Douglas and Ann-Margret adds a nice layer to all the chaos.
