The Water's Edge is this haunting piece that really immerses you in isolation and dread. Set against a desolate mountainside, it draws you into the protagonist's world, where the stillness of the lake becomes almost suffocating. The way the film builds tension is something I appreciate; it’s not about jump scares, but this creeping sense of despair instead. The practical effects, while not extravagant, effectively evoke the lurking danger that remains unseen. You can feel the weight of the character’s solitude, and the pacing really amplifies that sense of waiting and anxiety. The ending leaves you questioning what’s real and what’s imagined, which is a nice touch. It’s not your typical horror, that’s for sure, but there’s something distinctive about its approach to fear.
