The Woman Who Sells Probiotic Drinks is a quirky drama that deftly captures the awkwardness of high school life. Haruki and Motoki are really just trying to figure out their own identities while digging into the life of Chisato, the seemingly perfect student council vice president. The film has this odd, almost surreal atmosphere, especially with the introduction of the woman selling probiotic drinks at the bus stop, which becomes a metaphor of sorts for the characters' own struggles. The pacing is kind of meandering, but it fits the tone, like they’re all just drifting through their senior year. The performances feel natural, capturing that youthful curiosity and confusion. It’s definitely not your run-of-the-mill coming-of-age story.
