So 'Them' (1996) is a TV movie that reimagines that classic 1954 sci-fi flick. It definitely captures some of that original tension, but the pacing feels a bit off at times. You get these giant ants, which are pretty well done given the budget—definitely leaning on practical effects. The atmosphere has that eerie, isolated vibe that really hammers home the fear of the unknown. Performances are decent, but I’d say they lean more towards serviceable than standout; still, it has a certain charm. Themes of humanity vs. nature and survival come through, but it doesn't quite reach the depth of its predecessor. It's a curious piece for collectors, showing how those classic ideas were reworked for a new audience in the '90s.
